Copas Turkeys are delighted to announce an exciting new partnership in their efforts to make Christmas a little more special for thousands of people this Christmas.

With the help of their nationwide network of stockists, they will also be working closely with Help the Hospices and Marie Curie Hospices to provide turkeys for Christmas meals for over 2,000 people in thirty-six hospices across the UK.

The Copas Turkeys team chose the work of hospices as one of the causes most important to them, also recognising how important Christmas time is for both the patients of hospices and their friends and families alike.

Liz George, National Fundraising Support Manager at Help the Hospices says "We are delighted to be able to pass this generous donation of Christmas turkeys on to independent, local hospices this year. This in-kind donation of Christmas turkeys will make a great difference to those local hospices who will be catering for many hundreds of hospice patients and their families. Huge thanks go to Copas Turkeys for their generosity."

Uniquely for a nationwide campaign of this type, the partnership is environmentally friendly, not requiring any extra delivery vehicles on the road.

Sarah Copas explains further “Using our network of quality independent butcher and farm shop stockists, we are delighted to be able to extend our Christmas turkey donations nationwide.  Hospices all over the UK were invited to find their nearest Copas Turkey stockist in order to take part.  Once these were identified and individual hospice requirements recorded, the Copas team were able to organise the rest, which will include delivery to each stockist, for collection by the hospices in time for Christmas.”

It also ties in with the Copas teams’ overall philosophy of providing local businesses with unique products and their recognition of the importance of support within local communities – each participating stockist will be liasing directly with their own local hospice benefiting from the donation.

Copas Traditional Turkeys aim to act responsibly and promote sustainability in the community. Their Corporate Responsibility program focuses on four key areas:  Animal Welfare, Environment, People and the Community.  To find out more about their Corporate Responsibility program, please contact them on responsible@copas.co.uk.

HOSPICE Notes for Editor:

HELP THE HOSPICES

  • Help the Hospices is the national charity for the hospice movement, supporting over 200 local hospices in their vital work on the front line of caring for people who face the end of life. Hospices provide a wide range of care for people living with terminal illness and their families, from in-patient beds to day care and care for people in their own homes.  The UK government contributes an average of 32% of running costs for adult hospices in England and 22% for children’s (based on latest figures available) – the rest has to be obtained through charitable fundraising (Note: health services are funded separately by the devolved governments in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales).
